Job Introduction

[Employer hidden] has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer within the Projects Department based at our Tunstead Cement Plant.

The successful applicant will be instrumental in the future development and support of the reliability culture to achieve the benefits available through the continuous improvement strategy. You will be responsible for specifying and coordinating the implementation of strategic and complex projects for the Cement Plant which include the development, sustainability and CAPEX. You will also be expected to carry out some development work and improvement projects including safety and environmental issues.

Role Responsibility

This role is ideally suited to an existing engineer with proven supervisory experience. This opportunity means you will be working in close coordination with the plant operations teams and contractors to ensure the successful planning and implementation of projects to optimise plant efficiency and productivity. You will also proactively manage the S&H performance and behaviours of the team and contractors to continuously improve practices and standards.

In addition you will ensure that Risk Assessments, STOP assessments and PTW isolations are fully utilised and adhered to at all times; support and promote Housekeeping and Safety Action Days; contribute to and review the project proposal or plan to determine time frames, identifying limitations, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements and allocation of available resources to various phases of each project, including CAPEX applications.

The role will also support the maintenance department as and when required and you’ll need to step into an operational role if required. Your prior experience as a project manager means that you will be comfortable in the execution from preparing the feasibility study to project implementation.

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in this role it is likely that you will have a mechanical apprenticeship and/or HNC/Degree Education or equivalent, be 17th Edition Certified and possess C&G 2392. You will also be a High Voltage Appointed Person with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques. Knowledge of Siemens S7 PLC is desirable.

In addition you should be able to demonstrate proven Mechanical Maintenance experience in Cement or another related process heavy industry. Supervisory experience is desirable as is an understanding of a Manufacturing Maintenance Management System (Maximo ,SAP). If you’ve worked in a complex 24hr production operation that would be considered advantageous.
