Practitioner Psychologist - Community

We are looking for an enthusiastic HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist to join Adult Mental Health Psychology in the Community Mental Health Team based in Gorseinon. The post holder will be expected to provide a high quality psychology service to the CMHT. The successful candidate will have access to regular supervision, and join a supportive network of psychologists working in adult mental health. The role is available to start as soon as possible.

Job summary

The post is offered as an Annex 21 position for applicants who do not hold the full qualifications and will be considered for a trainee position and will be subject to NHS Wales Annex 21 as set out within the NHS Wales Terms & Conditions of employment.

The successful candidate will have access to regular supervision, and join a supportive network of psychologists working in adult mental health.

There are strong teaching and placement links with the clinical and counselling psychology courses in South Wales and the South West of England.

The post affords the opportunity to develop for newly qualified Practitioner Psychologists pursuing preceptorship from band 7 to band 8a under Annex 21.

The role is available to start as soon as possible.

Main duties of the job

To provide a psychology service to people accessing care and support at Ty Einon Community Mental Health Team, Gorseinon.

The post holder will carry a complex clinical caseload of people engaged with services and provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention. The work is recovery-focused and trauma-informed.

The post holder will be expected to provide leadership in psychological knowledge and skills, work well with MDT colleagues and be adept at working through others by providing consultation, supervision and team formulation.

Forming and strengthening professional relationships and working by embedding psychology in the multidisciplinary team is an essential part of the role.

The psychologist in post will have a broad range of direct client involvement, from trauma and other specific therapies, through to providing specialist assessments.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential: Doctorate in clinical/counselling psychology or it's equivalent

Desirable: Postdoctoral/qualification training courses in specific areas of practitioner psychology (Clinical/Forensic/Coun selling).

Experience

Essential: Experience of specialised psychological assessment and treatment of a range of clients across a wide range of care settings. Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care, with experience of co-ordinating care within the context of multi-disciplinary care-planning.

Desirable: Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision. Experience of the application of practitioner psychology in diverse cultural contexts. Experience of representing psychology within the context of multidisciplinary care

Ability

Essential: Well-developed skills in effectively communicating very complex, highly technical and clinically sensitive information, both orally and in writing, to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.

Desirable: Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh
