Main duties of the job

The Physician Associate will support the delivery of patient care within the practice, working as part of the clinical team in a supervised setting. The role involves contributing to patient assessments, supporting clinical decision-making, and assisting with the management of a varied caseload.

The post holder will work closely with GPs and other healthcare professionals to help ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care, while maintaining accurate clinical records and supporting the smooth running of daily clinical services.

Job description

- Provide patient consultations within a supervised primary care setting

- Take medical histories and carry out appropriate clinical assessments

- Perform physical examinations relevant to patient presentations

- Request and interpret investigations such as blood tests, ECGs, and other diagnostic tests

- Contribute to the assessment and management of both acute and chronic conditions

- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records using the practice clinical system

- Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and the wider multidisciplinary team

- Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues to support continuity of care

- Ensure all work is carried out in line with clinical guidelines, practice policies, and governance standards
