Job summary
Applications are invited for one post as a Senior Fellow with subspecialty interest in hand and upper limb surgery, which is available for a period of 6 months initially with a possible extension, based on the training requirements of the individual. The post is available from August 2024 but start date can be flexible on mutual agreement
Main duties of the job
The routine work includes care of patients in the Leeds General Infirmary, attendance at theatre lists and out-patient clinics where areas of need for particular sub specialisation will be addressed with his supervising consultant. These will need to be clearly defined from the outset by the successful candidate.
The post is fulltime. The candidate will be expected to have background training in Plastic Surgery to a high level and have completed the FRCS (Plast) or equivalent

The department provides a wide range of specialist plastic and reconstructive surgery. The unit sub-specialises in comprehensive hand and upper limb surgery, including congenital hand, adult hand and brachial plexus surgery, hand transplant, head and neck malignancy, cleft and craniofacial surgery, sarcoma, breast reconstruction, skin cancer and lower limb reconstruction - Leeds is a Major Trauma Centre. The unit has a busy microvascular workload which the trainees/fellows participate in.

Job description
This Senior Fellow position within the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery will be tailored to an individuals training requirement, but provides high volume subspeciality training in reconstructive surgery.

Person Specification
### Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills
#### Essential
- Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the GMC at intended start date
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent (as required to complete Foundation competences) by intended start date
### Qualifications

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- MRCS
- FRCS (Plast) or equivalent
### Experience
#### Essential
- 6 years experience after full GMC registration or equivalent, and evidence of achievement of foundation competences, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice;
- provide a good standard of practice
- Evidence of achievement of CT/ST1competencies in medicine or Surgery (as defined by the curricula relating to Core Medical training or Core Surgical Training)
