Community Mental Health Nurse

Fylde Coast CMHT is an Older Adults Community Mental Health service based at Shorelands in Blackpool. We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Community Mental Health who has an enthusiasm for and passion to work within older adult's mental health services. The Band 6 Nurse will have the opportunity to consolidate their skills in mental health nursing as well as developing the specialist skills needed in an older adults mental health.

Job summary

Fylde Coast CMHT is an Older Adults Community Mental Health service based at Shorelands in Blackpool.

We are a 5 day a week service with operating hours from 9am to 5pm.

We are a multi- disciplinary team with close working links with other health departments, social services and voluntary agencies.

Our service users can present with both functional and organic mental health difficulties which are often combined with complex social care and physical health needs.

We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Community Mental Health who has an enthusiasm for and passion to work within older adult's mental health services.

The Band 6 Nurse will have the opportunity to consolidate their skills in mental health nursing as well as developing the specialist skills needed in an older adults mental health.

There is an expectation that the successful applicants would be able to act up in the absence of the Deputy Manager and Manager, they would also have some supervision responsibilities to more junior team members.

Main duties of the job

  • o To actively promote teamwork, respect, integrity, accountability, excellence and compassion within the clinical team in accordance with the Trust values and code of conduct.
  • o To provide nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure the effective assessment formulation planning, monitoring of care given to service users.
  • o To undertake mental health assessments including Risk assessments within a multidisciplinary assessment team.
  • o To be proficient in referring to other clinicians within the service or referring to other services/agencies where necessary.
  • o To provide a fast, responsive service to assess individual's needs.
  • o Providing a communication structure between GP's , IAPT and non IAPT services in LCFT, non-statuary service, as a means of ensuring the highest possible standards of patient care
  • o To provide mentoring and clinical supervision to other staff and trainees on placement.
  • o To manage caseload of service users in a proactive and safe way.

Education / Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse Degree.
  • Mentorship qualification.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge and practice of Mental Health Act 1983 & knowledge and practice of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • An understanding and awareness of the NHS Plan, NSF and other relevant documentation.
  • Knowledge of common mental health problems and medication used in relation to these.

Experience

Essential

  • Supervision and management of staff.
  • Experience of assessing, planning and implementing and reviewing care needs.
