Our client is an established financial software company, offering bespoke software solutions to blue-chip clients spanning all areas of the highly regulated financial services sector. Currently recruiting a Software Project Manager to lead bespoke software projects, managing everything from delivery to resource/budgets (from £80K to £2M) as well as the transition into service delivery. As a Software Project Manager, you will matrix manage a team of product consultants, business analysts, developers and test analysts and manage the full project lifecycle, actively participating and influencing the scope, definition and design throughout the product journey.
Software Project Manager – Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring effective management and delivery of multiple projects to meet time, cost and quality
- Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships across all levels within the organisation
- Management of client relationships; responsible for ensuring that each customer project has an agreed schedule of delivery that meets the customer requirements, compliance and regulatory controls and is adequately resourced; Act as the customer contact during the planning and delivery of each project, responding quickly and effectively to clarifications, change requests and updates
- Budget and commercial responsibility, including agreeing RFCs with the client
- Resources management; identify skill requirement, working closely with the senior development team to build the development teams
- Project initiation and planning across project lifecycle to include project closure and documentation of ‘lessons learnt’.
- Management and effective communication of the RAID associated with each project and work with the management team to mitigate them
- Internal projects change management experience
- Production of regular status reports for clients and internal stakeholders
- Application and adherence (and ensuring others do) to the procedures and processes outlined in the company ISO9001, ISO 27001 and the Project Management procedures;
- Working with the Client Services team to move new projects and customers into support – ensuring that everything is ready for the customer and the support team that is necessary to deliver the agreed levels of support.
Software Project Manager – Skills & Qualities
- Strong Project Management experience with a demonstrable record of managing multiple bespoke software project streams concurrently
- Financial services industry knowledge and understanding of FCA regulations would be highly desirable, but not essential
- Strong stakeholder management skills and be comfortable communicating and influencing at all levels both internal to the organisation and externally with the customer
- Assertiveness and good negotiating skills
- Strong track record of design, delivery and analysis of end to end bespoke software projects using formal project management methodology and with the ability to “do” as well as track and plan
- Experience with Contract documentation and commercial awareness to balance what the client wants against what can be achieved within the agreed budget
- Have a strong background of product/software development process
- Delivery focused attitude to meet tight deadlines and client expectations
- Ideally educated to degree level and hold a relevant project management qualification, such as APMP, PRINCE 2 Practitioner etc.
Software Project Manager position is offering £55,000 – £65,000 Basic Salary plus Car Allowance & Benefits for the successful candidate. This is a hybrid position, work 1-2 days every 2 weeks from our client’s Yorkshire office.
