CLOSED | Transport & Logistics Manager
Our client is an established logistics facility in the Thirsk area. They are currently recruiting a Transport & Logistics Manager to join their business. The successful candidate will take the lead in overseeing the transport fleet and logistical operation of the business to ensure that the business can deliver within business constraints as required.
Transport & Logistics Manager – Accountabilities:
- Being responsible for ensuring the right products are delivered to the right location on time, to the quality required and in the most cost-effective way.
- Management and scheduling of own fleet and3rdpartyproviders.
- Evaluate the performance and deliver efficiency improvements of the logistics operation.
- Understanding the inbound and outbound supply chain to optimise fleet utilisation via the liaison with suppliers, customer services, commercial teams and customers.
Transport & Logistics Manager – Key Duties:
- Integration of own and 3rd party operators to ensure Production output is maximised as efficiently as possible.
- Ensure good communication with stakeholders at all levels.
- Identify savings by removing waste or unnecessary steps in the logistics process.
- Negotiate rates and contracts with 3rd party providers and monitor service against performance criteria.
- Use associated information systems to coordinate and control the order cycle, manage delivery times and to evaluate cost performance against budget.
- Allocate and manage staff& fleet resources according to changing needs.
- Continually try to improve and develop business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs and rising environmental pressures.
- Implement and monitor health and safety procedures across the logistics function.
- Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
- Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
- Ensure metrics, reports and process documentation is available for management reviews.
- Develop, implement and control ongoing fleet replacement plans.
- Manage and optimise the day today running of the fleet.
- Instigate process review and improvement exercises using available data to deliver best in class driver and fleet performance.
- Ensure inbound and outbound material planning and production scheduling is properly aligned and executed to facilitate optimised fleet running costs including driver hours.
- To implement standards and systems that delivers best in class performance and compliance with all customer, statutory and regulatory requirements in fleet management, health & safety and environment.
Transport & Logistics Manager – Skills & Experience:
- Transport Manager CPC qualification to operate own fleet.
- Thorough knowledge of complex fast moving Logistics operations.
- Commercial and financial acumen with a full understanding of the impact of failure in terms of business cost, production schedules and customer order fulfilment.
- Experience of good people management and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to influence stakeholders.
Transport & Logistics Manager position is offering a highly competitive salary plus benefits for the successful candidate. Hours are Monday – Friday 8.30am until 5pm with flexibility to meet needs of business.
