Our client is an established software provider based in West Yorkshire. They are currently recruiting a Head of Database Services to lead their International DBA teams. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in a fast moving and growing organisation, with highly talented colleagues and an impressive list of clients. This position would suit applicants who have both, hands-on DBA skills and proven management experience.

The Head of Database Services must be capable of leading a diverse team across multiple time-zones, be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Must rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Must be able to perform a variety of tasks with little to no supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Head of Database Services – Key Responsibilities:

• All database related services across the business, both to support the internal business as well as our client’s customers, retaining responsibility for the team development, all functional aspects as well as reporting back to the business.
• Ability to administer, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company
• Be able to implement data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, query optimisation and other distributed data
• Coordinate work teams and provide technical support to project team members. Able to provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top-level contributor/specialist.

Head of Database Services – Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

• Proven ability to manage team of DBA’s, across multiple technologies.
• Proven hands-on DBA experience in all versions of Oracle from 11g upwards, SQL from 2014 upwards (earlier versions an advantage).
• High level of technical capability including database interrogation, Complex SQL scripting, maintenance, and proactive identification/resolution.
• Background in providing DBA services for external customer utilisation in a SaaS environment ideal.
• Demonstrable experience in providing proactive customer support, maintenance, investigation and
• Ideally, have worked in a customer focused B2B (Business to Business) environment with good understanding of customer requirements/market.
• Committed to providing outstanding customer service (internally & externally).
