Our client is an established manufacturing business based near Thirsk. As a growing company, they are now recruiting for an experienced Buyer. The primary objective of the role is to carry out the purchasing activities for the manufacturing facility in order to gain the best possible value and maximise business effectiveness.

The Buyer will focus on the commercial aspects of procurement more closely in order to gain best value for the business. In addition to achieving best value, the timely delivery to sites of goods and services in order to maintain our client’s highly flexible service to customers is vital. This role sits within a team of people whose proactive and professional manner is a critical element to the success of our client’s business. The Buyer will become the primary link to suppliers and service providers.

Buyer – Key Responsibilities:
·Purchasing of all goods and services for manufacturing facility.
·Ensure on time delivery of all materials in line with the production schedule.
·Negotiating contracts to deliver best value to business.
·Environmental scanning to take advantage of opportunities for purchasing.
·Implement purchasing policies in line with company objectives.
·Raise purchase orders, expediting orders and dealing with customer queries.
·Purchasing of consumables and stock engineering goods and services.
·Ensure supplier checks are in place and their operations are in line with company policy.
·Build and maintain effective working relationships with all suppliers and customers.
·Check Bill of Materials and arranging transport.

Buyer – Skills & Experience:
·Purchasing knowledge/experience, preferably within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
·Proven track record of delivering cost savings.
·Proficient in Microsoft programmes and experience of/ability to learn ERP systems.
·CIPS qualified, working towards or looking to undertake.
·The creation and maintenance of relationships with suppliers and customers is of paramount importance. Ability to communicate, influence and negotiate well at all levels is key.

The Buyer position is offering £25,000 – £35,000 basic salary plus benefits for the successful candidate. Working hours Monday to Friday, 8am until 4pm (flexible), 37.5 hours per week.
