Our client is a leading software business based in West Yorkshire. Due to continued growth, they are currently recruiting a Senior IT Engineer to join their established IT Availability team. The position will work hybrid, offering flexibility to work from home 2-3 days per week.
As part of the IT Availability team, the Senior IT Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the data centre / server room environments and ensuring all server environments are secure, operational, and highly available through continuous proactive monitoring, customer support and scheduled maintenance preparation. The Senior IT Engineer will also handle internal IT business issues which are normally logged within the central support system.
Senior IT Engineer – Key Accountabilities:
• Provide administrative support for our client’s IT Systems and other third party applications, including, but not limited to; Servers/Endpoints/Hardware/Operating Systems/Security/Software Deployments/ Microsoft365/DevOps/Azure/Active Directory/User and Group Privileges.
• Monitor the health and configuration of servers, infrastructure and associated systems.
• Ensure all environments are backed up and recoverable in timescales to meet contracted RTO and RPOs.
• Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure within the business including all networking, firewall and load balancer configuration.
• Create technical and procedural documentation for IT availability services.
Senior IT Engineer – Skills & Experience:
• Significant proven experience in supporting desktop and server operating systems and applications, including Microsoft365 Administrator and Group Policy.
• Significant proven experience administering/maintaining Virtualisation environments (VMWare/Hyper-V)
• Good understanding of IT security issues including anti-virus, malware prevention, vulnerability scanning and penetration testing.
• Experience executing small projects to make improvements and provide support for larger projects as required.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, TLS/SSL, Storage Area Networks (SAN), web cryptography (certificates), and authentication/authorization concepts.
The Senior IT Engineer position is offering £35,000 – £45,000 basic salary plus excellent benefits including 25 days holiday + statutory and hybrid working for the successful candidate. By its nature, the role will include both planned and unplanned out of hours work which will be compensated when appropriate.
