FULL DESCRIPTION

Structural Engineer

Wakefield

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial appraisals and feasibility assessments of telecoms structures and infrastructure.
  • Produce, review, and check structural designs, calculations, and drawings in line with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Obtain field data safely to support the design and drafting process.
  • Manage and coordinate third-party contractors to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with client contacts.
  • Apply expertise in client technical specifications and systems to develop practical and compliant design solutions.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for review by directors or senior management.
  • Plan projects to deliver within agreed constraints of time, cost, and quality.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety regulations and company Quality Management System (QMS) policies.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the company

Qualifications & Experience required for the role

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred, or working toward chartership.

Desirable:

  • Qualified in project management or a related discipline

Skills and Competencies

Essential:

  • Strong technical knowledge of structural design codes, standards, and analysis software.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
  • Competence in using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD, Tekla) and project management tools.
  • Commitment to Health & Safety and quality standards.
  • Client-focused approach with the ability to build professional relationships

Desirable:

  • Experience with telecoms towers, masts, shelters, or similar infrastructure.

Working Hours: 37.5 per week
