We are a patient-centred charity that delivers palliative and end of life care to thousands of people each year with advanced life-limiting illnesses who live in Northwest Surrey, also providing support to their carers and families in patient homes, in care or nursing homes or through its In-Patient Unit in the Hospice; as well as through the Bradbury Wellbeing Centre.

You will, therefore, be joining a passionate and dedicated team of professionals that make a real difference to the families across the North West Surrey community.

“I love that my role means so much to me personally. I really feel like I am giving something back” – Volunteer Colleague

The Reception role is varied and it will include meeting and greeting people, including patients, who arrive via ambulance, staff, patient visitors, members of the public visiting our café, delivery drivers, fellow volunteers etc.

Reception cover is required every other Sunday for the 2:00 – 6:00pm shift.

We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers who can engage with people of all ages and from all walks of life to join our team.

If you would like to find out more, please pop into the Hospice and have a chat with the Reception team or ring [contact hidden] and ask to speak to someone about the role. Alternatively, please complete our online application form which will then be passed on to Head of Reception to make contact. A DBS check will be required for this role.

What are the benefits to you?

  • The opportunity to support Woking and Sam Beare Hospices and enable the hospice to continue to provide care at no cost to the patients
  • A chance to work with a friendly supportive team of likeminded people
  • An opportunity to network and meet other staff/volunteers
  • Helps you feel part of your local community
  • Gain confidence and perhaps improve your mental/physical health in the process
  • It might help you get a job
  • Full training will be provided

If you would like to join the team of volunteers or have any questions, we would love to hear from you.
