FULL DESCRIPTION

This is a high-impact leadership role with full accountability for the Home trading performance of AA Underwriting Insurance Company Limited (AAUICL). You’ll own the end-to-end pricing and underwriting trading cycle, using insight and analysis to drive profitable growth and provide clear recommendations to senior stakeholders and governance forums.

What will I be doing?

  • Develop and enhance pricing models and decisioning approaches, ensuring they are robust, well-governed and commercially effective.
  • Implement pricing changes in WTW Radar, including scenario testing, peer review, deployment and documentation in line with governance standards.
  • Build and automate portfolio MI and trading dashboards, writing and optimising SQL to extract, validate and reconcile data with strong quality controls.
  • Forecast and monitor weekly trading against budget, identifying variances and recommending corrective action.
  • Lead pricing reviews and present clear, decision-focused insight at governance forums and to key stakeholders, including reinsurers where required.
  • Partner with Technical Pricing, Reserving, Claims, Finance, Risk, AA Broker and wider Group teams to deliver shared objectives.
  • Support reinsurance and capacity activity through profitability, exposure and trend analysis.
  • Lead, coach and grow the Home Trading team, setting high technical standards and driving best practice.
  • Embed Treating Customers Fairly, Consumer Duty and regulatory expectations into pricing, trading and portfolio governance.

What do I need?

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Significant experience in personal lines pricing and underwriting (Home preferred), with a proven track record of delivering trading performance improvements.
  • Strong hands-on experience with WTW Radar (or another rating engine, with the ability to become productive in Radar quickly).
  • Advanced SQL skills, including writing and optimising complex queries, working with large datasets, and building robust, well-controlled data processes.
  • Strong analytical capability across modelling and portfolio analysis (e.g. GLMs, GBMs, segmentation and performance monitoring). Python experience beneficial.
  • Ability to balance commercial pace with strong governance, controls and documentation.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring or line-managing analysts and developing team capability.
  • Confident communicator who can translate technical insight into clear recommendations and influence senior stakeholders.
