FULL DESCRIPTION
This is a high-impact leadership role with full accountability for the Home trading performance of AA Underwriting Insurance Company Limited (AAUICL). You’ll own the end-to-end pricing and underwriting trading cycle, using insight and analysis to drive profitable growth and provide clear recommendations to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
What will I be doing?
- Own the end-to-end Home pricing and underwriting trading cycle, with clear accountability for performance against plan and risk appetite.
- Develop and enhance pricing models and decisioning approaches, ensuring they are robust, well-governed and commercially effective.
- Implement pricing changes in WTW Radar, including scenario testing, peer review, deployment and documentation in line with governance standards.
- Build and automate portfolio MI and trading dashboards, writing and optimising SQL to extract, validate and reconcile data with strong quality controls.
- Forecast and monitor weekly trading against budget, identifying variances and recommending corrective action.
- Lead pricing reviews and present clear, decision-focused insight at governance forums and to key stakeholders, including reinsurers where required.
- Partner with Technical Pricing, Reserving, Claims, Finance, Risk, AA Broker and wider Group teams to deliver shared objectives.
- Support reinsurance and capacity activity through profitability, exposure and trend analysis.
- Lead, coach and grow the Home Trading team, setting high technical standards and driving best practice.
- Embed Treating Customers Fairly, Consumer Duty and regulatory expectations into pricing, trading and portfolio governance.
What do I need?
Capability, Knowledge and Experience:
- Significant experience in personal lines pricing and underwriting (Home preferred), with a proven track record of delivering trading performance improvements.
- Strong hands-on experience with WTW Radar (or another rating engine, with the ability to become productive in Radar quickly).
- Advanced SQL skills, including writing and optimising complex queries, working with large datasets, and building robust, well-controlled data processes.
- Strong analytical capability across modelling and portfolio analysis (e.g. GLMs, GBMs, segmentation and performance monitoring). Python experience beneficial.
- Ability to balance commercial pace with strong governance, controls and documentation.
- Experience coaching, mentoring or line-managing analysts and developing team capability.
- Confident communicator who can translate technical insight into clear recommendations and influence senior stakeholders.
