Workshop Technician – Wheelchair Services – Leicester
We are seeking a Workshop Technician to join our dedicated team in Leicester, initially on a 3 month fixed-term contract.
Opcare has been providing Wheelchair service to patients in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland for over 7 years. The service works in conjunction with the Specialist Mobility Centre which is based at Meridian East Business Park. The team there is made up of Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Engineers and Technicians/Associate Practitioners who deliver clinical services to our patients whom we support.
The role will be instrumental in helping to deliver high quality wheelchair equipment to those with mobility and postural needs in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Refurbish and build to prescription, manual and power wheelchairs in accordance with strict quality assurance standards.
- Follow decontamination procedures and the correct disposal of scrap/unwanted equipment.
- Accurately document all workshop technician activities using optimum bespoke tool and quality assurance documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of stock inventory, reconditioned spare parts and consumables used in all workshop technical activities.
- Identify equipment for reuse.
- Support the wider wheelchair engineering team (field and in-house based).
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role with a technical background.
- The ability to follow instructions and build to specification requirements.
- IT literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Outlook and Excel)
- A positive can-do attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Previous experience of in working within a wheelchair service or similar environment.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Whilst no specific qualifications are required to undertake the role, the successful candidate will have a good standard of written English and must possess a full UK driving licence.
- The successful candidate must also be able to achieve full DBS clearance.
Desirable:
- Technical or mechanical engineering qualifications.
