As our Internal Communications Manager, you'll contribute to and develop integrated communications and projects to improve overall colleague engagement and improve the quality of communication to all of our 1200 colleagues. This a varied role, which includes:
- Content writing
- Planning
- Advertising
- Event organisation
- System development
- Liaising with all areas of the business
- Data issue and interpretation (surveys etc)
- Action planning
Main Responsibilities
Working as part of the People team, and reporting to the Head of HR you will play an active role in designing, landing and developing the [Employer hidden] internal communications strategy and plan. This will include but not be limited to organising and supporting internal Engagement activities across the whole business:
- Leading on transforming the internal communications methods across different platforms, as well as supporting the wider key strategies and ambitions for the People team
- Working closely with the HR business partners and Head of HR to run annual colleague engagement surveys and associated communication activities and updates
- Design new communication approaches to report all internal news and updates throughout the company using various methods so all colleagues have access to the right level of detail
- Managing and updating the communications and engagement calendar, intranet and communications app as required
- Support the recruitment team with content and visuals for internal and external recruitment campaigns and job adverts
- Design and produce company internal communication literature such as newsletters, briefings, emails & announcements
- Support the Executive and SLT teams on the production and delivery of Monthly Communication presentations, colleague conferences, and other internal Engagement activities
- Work alongside the Marketing Exec (external communications) to ensure all activities and visuals protect the [Employer hidden] brand image and are in line with company marketing guidelines
- Work with stakeholders throughout the business (i.e., HR, Exec, General Managers) assisting with communication circulation guidance across all our platforms and media, creating new business wide solutions where needed
- Monitoring all internal communications and shared inboxes ensuring speed, accuracy and appropriate tone of internal communications
- Creation and delivery of a monthly schedule of Engagement activities and Communications
- Support two-way communication initiatives including attendance & participation at relevant listening groups
- Work with various benefit suppliers and systems to help improve our overall Colleague Experience
- Own and improve the Colleague of the Month and Long Service Recognition programmes for the business
- Development and implementation and standardisation of all colleague communication zones, both physically and virtually, including comms boards, TV screens, PC access and quiet / learning zones
- Delivery of the organisation of companywide conferences and briefings, ensuring that the agenda, the presenters and the visuals are engaging and in line with brand guidelines
- Evaluation of all current communication channels on a regular basis, maximising colleague reach, interaction, and engagement
- Creation, issue and collation of results of colleague pulse surveys across the business as required
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience and proven in a similar role
- Minimum GCSE English Language/Literature at Grade 7 (B) or above or equivalent
- Very strong verbal and written skills at both a formal and informal levels
- High level of competency using Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams
- Proficient in the use and improvement of relevant IT applications, systems, and intranets
- Confident with effective interpersonal skills – ability to articulate and build relationships well with colleagues at all levels
- Strong eye for detail, accuracy and style
- Able to deliver presentations with impact
- Aptitude for organisation – ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects to ensure timely delivery, including managing the relevant stakeholders and approval processes
- Strong decision-making skills, as well as a willingness to own with initiative and resolve any problems or issues
- Creative, able to visualise new ideas and concepts and turn them into practical solutions
