About the Role

As Operations Manager, you will play a vital strategic and operational role within the academy, working closely with the Principal and Trust teams. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will lead and manage all aspects of school operations to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-performing environment that supports outstanding teaching and learning.

This is a varied and rewarding role, offering the opportunity to lead across multiple service areas including estates, health & safety, administration, finance, HR, IT, and more.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Contribute as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Lead operational strategy and continuous improvement across support services
  • Line manage and develop support staff teams
  • Advise senior leaders on all operational matters

Estates, Health & Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with all statutory health & safety requirements
  • Oversee site management, maintenance, and facilities operations
  • Manage contractors and service level agreements
  • Lead risk assessment processes and ensure a safe school environment

Administration & Business Services

  • Lead and develop the administration function across the school
  • Ensure effective systems, data management, and GDPR compliance
  • Support inspections, governance, and reporting requirements

Finance & Procurement

  • Work with Trust finance teams to manage budgets and procurement
  • Monitor and forecast spending, ensuring value for money
  • Support strategic financial planning and school improvement priorities

Human Resources

  • Act as the first point of contact for HR matters
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and staff wellbeing
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and employment processes

Additional Areas

  • Oversee catering provision and compliance
  • Support IT service delivery and infrastructure
  • Lead marketing, communications, and school events
  • Manage transport services and external partnerships

About You

We are looking for a proactive and solutions-focused professional who:

  • Has strong leadership and team management experience
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Has experience in operations, facilities, or business management (education experience desirable)
  • Has a strong understanding of health & safety, compliance, and risk management
  • Can manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

A relevant leadership or school business management qualification is desirable (or willingness to work towards one).
