What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive School Business Manager to oversee the school’s business operations. Working closely with the Headteacher and Governing Board, you will manage key areas including finance, HR, administration, premises and health & safety, ensuring resources are used effectively to support the school’s priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and monitoring of the school budget and 3-year financial plan
- Manage day-to-day financial operations, including payments, reconciliations and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with DfE and Local Authority financial regulations
- Oversee recruitment, HR administration, payroll checks and staff records
- Maintain the Single Central Record and manage safeguarding checks
- Lead on health and safety compliance and statutory premises checks
- Manage suppliers and coordinate maintenance or repairs as required
- Support general school administration, policies and website updates
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong financial and administrative management experience
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Experience working with systems such as FMS, SIMS or similar (desirable)
- Knowledge of HR processes and safeguarding requirements
- The ability to work independently while supporting the wider school team

The role is term time plus 2 weeks (40 weeks) for 18.75 hours per week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 08.15 – 15.30 with an hour unpaid lunch break). The role is paid on the NJC pay scale at Grade I points 22 – 26 with a starting salary of £33,699 pro rata.

Start Date: Tuesday 1st September
