What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic teacher of RE to join this key department in our school. As a Catholic school, RE is a core subject and all students in the school continue their studies in this area throughout the school. Applications from those who share the Catholic faith, have no faith or are of any other faith are all welcome although the successful candidate will need to be confident in teaching within the context of a Catholic school curriculum. The CCRS (Catholic Certificate of Religious Studies) is therefore advantageous but not essential. Applications from ECTs and experienced colleagues are welcome. The ideal candidate should be passionate about their subject, be committed to raising standards by inspiring and motivating pupils and should be qualified to teach RE across the age range of the school.

What the school offers its staff

Our school is committed to our mission as a Catholic community and seeks to help all our young people achieve their potential both academically and personally. We can offer a positive environment where you will be encouraged to progress further in your career should you wish, supported by a team of staff who are hardworking and dedicated to the school.

St Benedict’s Catholic School was inspected in June 2025.

The report praised the school stating:

'Pupils who attend St Benedict’s Catholic school are encouraged to be the best versions of themselves. Alongside an education that provides them with knowledge to succeed, they are encouraged to reflect and consider the wider world and the people in it. This fully embodies the schools’ values of ‘wisdom, compassion and resilience’.

The school sets high expectations for its pupils, and they respond to this. They take pride in their work and achievements and want to do their best. This attitude is modelled by staff effectively. Pupils have strong relationships with the adults here and feel supported, valued and well guided throughout their time at school. Pupils’ behaviour and attitudes are positive. They are supportive of one another, and pupils from different year groups happily interact and help each other. This gives the school a sense of community where everyone works together purposefully. Pupils thrive within the school’s deeply supportive and nurturing environment.

They are open minded and self-assured. Pupils embrace diversity here and respect difference and say that this deepens their understanding of others. As a result, pupils feel secure, happy and appreciated.'

Please full report for more details.

Our Section 48 Diocesan Inspection of the religious character of the school in June/ July 2022 judged the school to be Outstanding.

Our school is committed to our mission as a Catholic community and seeks to help all our young people achieve their potential both academically and personally.
