Teacher of Boys PE job summary

We have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, dedicated teacher of boys PE to join our team at Edward Peake as we continue our transition to a Secondary School.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone looking to take their next steps in their career and help to shape the teaching of PE at our school.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and delivery of PE to their classes across year groups. They will be accountable to the subject leader for PE. This is an important post, designed to further promote and develop learning within the school.

The successful candidate will be an effective teacher and will be able:

  • to demonstrate outstanding classroom practice and innovation
  • to teach PE across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • to help build and embed a successful KS4 PE curriculum that meets the needs of all students
  • to ensure consistency and shared good practice across the department
  • to follow and implement the school’s policies
  • to monitor the progress that students in their classes make within PE and work with the department to ensure effective interventions are in place to maximise the progress of all pupils.
  • to foster a love of physical activity
  • to support with extra curricular clubs and fixtures

All teachers appointed to the school are allocated a tutor group. A candidate who can demonstrate experience and a willingness to undertake wider responsibilities would be welcomed.

We wish to attract a high calibre candidate who will be fully involved in taking the department forward in the next stage of its development, particularly with the school transitioning to secondary. This post is a very important one and will need a team player with high expectations, flair, drive, determination, energy and a strong commitment to raising standards and providing opportunities for all learners.

For the right candidate, an opportunity of pastoral leadership is also available.
