We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed teacher with a passion for Psychology and the related Social Sciences who will enthuse both students and teachers alike.

Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed teacher with a passion for Psychology and the related Social Sciences. The successful candidate will either be/or have the potential to become an outstanding teacher.

Roles specific to this post include:

• The ability to plan and teach Psychology at A Level is essential.
• A willingness to plan and teach related disciplines if required.
• To contribute to the planning and preparation of new and existing courses and schemes of work as appropriate.
• To work well within a team, contributing to new initiatives, planning and standardisation, as well as taking part in CPD which is shared and built on with your colleagues.
• A willingness to contribute to and lead extra-curricular opportunities, trips and enrichment experiences to further enhance a love for the discipline and an awareness of how it is applied to the real world.
• The successful candidate will also be a Form Tutor and will be expected to support the values and ethos of a Church of England school.

Responsibilities

• Fulfil the Conditions of Employment as listed in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
• Have a history of strong sustained outcomes at A Level.
• The ability to explain complex psychological theories clearly and effectively.
• Have a deep understanding of best pedagogical practice to ensure ambition and challenge for all students to achieve highly.
• Teach clearly structured and evidenced informed lessons which interest, inspire and motivate young people.
• Have an understanding of curriculum design and implementation in Psychology, with the ability to contribute positively to collaborative departmental planning and development.
• Demonstrate experience of supporting students in developing research, analytical and evaluative skills.
• Establish a purposeful learning environment where students feel secure and confident; where diversity is valued; where there are opportunities to maximise teaching and learning.
• Establish a clear framework for classroom discipline and follow the school’s procedures for managing behaviour which recognises and encourages those meeting expectation.
• Mark and assess students' work, using a range of monitoring and assessment strategies, evaluating student progress toward the planned learning objectives.
• Use this information to inform future planning and teaching.
• Give immediate, constructive feedback which supports student learning, to enable student reflection and self evaluation leading to improved learning.
• Maintain an attractive, stimulating and well-organised classroom.
• Build and maintain good working relationships with parents and carers.
• Reflect and evaluate on own teaching and modify or amend as appropriate.
• Keep up-to-date with current educational thinking/best practice by attending relevant In-Service Training.
