We are seeking a caring, committed Teaching Assistant to join our team and support pupils’ learning and development across the school. Working under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team, SENDCo and class teachers, the post holder will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop socially and emotionally, and engage positively in school life. The role includes providing targeted support to individuals and small groups, assisting with classroom preparation and learning activities, and supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. A significant aspect of the post involves working on a 1:1 basis with a child who requires personal care and medical assistance, including toileting, hygiene, moving and handling, and support in line with an individual healthcare plan.

Working under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team, SENDCo and class teachers, the post holder will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop socially and emotionally, and engage positively in school life. The role includes providing targeted support to individuals and small groups, assisting with classroom preparation and learning activities, and supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. A significant aspect of the post involves working on a 1:1 basis with a child who requires personal care and medical assistance, including toileting, hygiene, moving and handling, and support in line with an individual healthcare plan.
Previous experience is not essential, but applicants must be willing to undertake relevant training and work confidently and sensitively to meet pupils’ medical and personal care needs. Experience of personal or medical care, trauma‑informed practice, and intervention programmes is desirable.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has at least two years’ experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a school setting
- Holds a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) and GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
- Has experience supporting pupils with SEND and behaviour difficulties
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
- Is calm, compassionate, flexible and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Is willing to undertake first aid, safeguarding, and medical support training
