We have a vacancy for a confident, enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced Teacher of Science – Biology/Chemistry to join a large, successful faculty from September 2026.

The successful candidate will:

  • be an excellent Biology and Chemistry teacher across the full age and ability range.
  • have a passionate commitment to making Science stimulating and relevant for all
  • be familiar with Key Stages 3 and 4 National Curriculum and GCSE
  • be a skilled with the use of ICT
  • be willing to contribute to the wider life of the School
  • have the calibre and ambition to develop his or her career in and beyond this post

Science plays a prominent part in the life of the School and consistently achieves excellent results. The Science Faculty has twenty members of staff and five laboratory technicians. Teaching accommodation is excellent – a STEM centre built in 2012, includes thirteen fully equipped laboratories and two computer rooms. There is effective and high quality technical and administrative support and the Faculty is well resourced.

The successful candidate will be required to complete Disclosure and Barring Service declarations in line with Section 115 of the Police Act 1997. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS certificate. As the post will involve regulated activity with children, it is a criminal offence to apply for this post if you are included on the children’s barred list held by the DBS.

Amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are “protected”. These are not subject to the disclosure to employers and cannot be taken into account.
