Overview:

[Employer hidden] are seeking a skilled and experienced Fly Person / Stagehand for our upcoming ice show Hot Ice XS. This role combines expertise in maintaining and operating the fly system with general stagehand responsibilities.

Dates: 16th June 2024 – 20th September 2024 *(6 Days Per Week, Monday to Saturday)*

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the stage manager to coordinate and execute backstage cues, artist entrances, and overall show flow.
  • Operate the fly system to facilitate the movement of scenic elements, backdrops, and props during performances.
  • Prioritize and enforce safety protocols for all fly activities, ensuring the well-being of the cast and crew.
  • Maintain clear communication with other crew members during performances to coordinate flawless transitions and timing.
  • Address and resolve any technical issues or challenges related to the fly system promptly and effectively.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Assist in the setup and dismantling of the stage, lighting, and other technical elements as needed.
  • Assist with various backstage tasks, demonstrating versatility and adaptability in a live performance environment

Requirements:

  • Proven experience operating fly systems in a theatre setting, with a strong understanding of the principles.
  • Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and manoeuvring heavy scenic elements.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with production team members.
  • Quick and effective problem-solving skills to address unexpected challenges during performances.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the production schedule.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with ice show productions and understanding of the unique challenges they present.
  • Familiarity with other technical aspects of theatre productions, such as lighting, sound, and set.
