FULL DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Laundry Assistant to ensure that every resident enjoys clean and well-maintained laundry, presented to the required standard. You will need to efficiently manage all laundry and maintain the laundry equipment.

Laundry Assistant Duties and Responsibilities

  • To efficiently manage the laundering of clothing and linen, thereby preventing un‐necessary build‐up.
  • To ensure the laundry is identified for the correct loading of washer(s) and dryer(s).
  • To have a knowledge of wash and drying programmed for differing fabrics and separate accordingly.
  • To ensure there is a regular stock of detergent and fabric conditioner.
  • To be responsible for the maintenance of the laundry equipment and the regular de‐fluffing of the dryer(s), reporting any defects to the Manager or Housekeeper.
  • To have a knowledge of methods of dealing with infection control.
  • To allocate clothes into appropriate baskets.
  • To distribute clothes to the correct resident whilst maintaining the dignity and respect of the privacy.
  • To ensure that correct marking of resident’s clothes.
  • To be aware of the Health & Safety and COSHH Policies.
  • To ensure careful attention to detail regarding bed linen, table linen, napkins etc
  • To ensure careful attention to detail regarding residents personal clothing.
  • To be mindful of various fabrics and materials especially cashmere and raw silk. Families need to take care of these items as we cannot accept responsibility for them.
  • To keep laundry room & linen cupboards organised, neat & tidy & report to manager if these are not being maintained by staff.
  • To report torn or worn linen & inform manager of any shortages.
  • To induct new staff on how to use the machines effectively & properly with emphasis on the need to maintain our high standards.
  • To work in line with the Company’s culture and ethos promoting Commitment, Connection and Compassion within daily duties.

Skills, Characteristics and Experience

Essential

  • Clear understanding of your responsibility with Health & Safety and COSHH policies.
  • Effective communication within the team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to be a team player.
  • To uphold confidentiality at all times.
  • To maintain the privacy and dignity of each resident.
  • Flexibility within working hours to include weekend and varied shifts.

Desirable

  • To hold a clean full UK driving licence.
  • A desire to develop within the role
