What makes a great morning care assistant in a care home?

Compassion and empathy. Our morning care assistants are an important part of the start of our residents’ days. Residents’ morning routines are extremely important to them, so assisting them with this to the best of your ability is crucial for getting the day off to a great start. The position holder should be able to build strong, trusting relationships founded on respect and compassion to help meet the unique emotional and physical needs of everyone living in our care homes.

Patience and resilience. Working in a care environment can present a variety of emotional and practical demands. We are looking for someone who remains calm and composed in all situations, particularly when residents living with dementia are feeling unsettled or distressed. Our morning care assistants are there to support our residents with the kindness and dignity they deserve to maintain a caring environment.

Attention to detail. Your attention to detail will be vital in carrying out residents personal care plans, administering medications correctly, and monitoring their health. As you will be one of their main sources of contact each day, your excellent attention to detail and ability to notice any subtle changes in their condition will help to ensure timely responses to support them.
