Full-Season Role / Trackside

Overview

[Employer hidden] is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Engineer to join our British Superbike Championship programme. This is a hands-on, trackside role working closely with riders, crew chiefs, and engineers to extract maximum performance from our Honda Fireblade machines.

You will play a key role in collecting, analysing, and translating data into actionable insights that directly influence bike setup and race performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Download, manage, and analyse on-bike data using MOTEC and ECU software systems
  • Support performance optimisation through data-driven setup decisions
  • Work directly with riders to interpret data and provide clear, actionable feedback
  • Collaborate with crew chiefs and engineers to refine chassis, electronics, and rider inputs
  • Produce concise session reports for debriefs and ongoing development
  • Maintain data integrity across all sessions, including testing and race weekends
  • Assist with sensor setup, calibration, and troubleshooting at the circuit

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with motorcycle race data in a competitive environment
  • Strong knowledge of MOTEC (or similar data analysis tools)
  • Understanding of ECU systems, logging strategies, and data channels
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced paddock environment
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical staff and riders
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Full availability to attend UK BSB rounds and testing sessions

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working with Honda Fireblade platforms or similar superbike machinery
  • Knowledge of electronics strategies (traction control, engine braking, etc.)
  • Previous experience in BSB, road racing, or high-level club racing
  • Basic understanding of chassis setup and suspension data correlation

What We Offer

  • Full-season role within a competitive BSB team
  • Trackside experience in one of the UK’s premier motorsport championships
  • Opportunity to work closely with professional riders and experienced engineers
  • Collaborative team environment with strong development potential
  • Expenses covered (race weekends) and package dependent on experience

About the Role

  • This is not a desk-based engineering job—this is a paddock role. You’ll be expected to operate in a high-pressure, performance-driven environment where quick thinking, precision, and communication are critical.
  • As with most motorsport roles, success comes from commitment, adaptability, and the ability to deliver under race weekend conditions
