FULL DESCRIPTION

Independence Support Ltd (ISL) is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our expanding leadership team, overseeing supported living services across Leeds, the North West and wider UK operational regions.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader with a strong background in supported living, mental health, learning disabilities and CQC-regulated services to drive operational excellence, service growth and quality improvement.

With a number of new services launching over the next 12 months, this is a fast-paced and rewarding leadership role where you will help shape the future of the organisation.

About the Role

As Operations Manager, you will take primary responsibility for providing high-quality operational leadership to our Registered Managers and Service Managers, ensuring services are safe, compliant, person-centred and outcome-focused.

You will work closely with the Director of Operations, supporting strategic growth, quality assurance, workforce development and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Frequent travel is required across Leeds, the North West and all operational regions, with travel expenses reimbursed in line with company policy.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and support to Registered Managers and Service Managers
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of safe, high-quality supported living services
  • Lead managers in line with ISL’s strategic objectives
  • Complete annual performance reviews and quarterly monitoring

Quality, Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure services remain fully compliant with CQC requirements and safeguarding legislation
  • Oversee incident management, complaints, crises and significant events
  • Ensure robust systems are in place to predict, reduce and manage risk
  • Embed quality assurance into everyday practice across all services

Strategic Growth & Service Development

  • Support wider organisational growth and sustainability strategies
  • Participate in tenders, interviews and business development activity
  • Identify opportunities to improve service efficiency and quality
  • Lead continuous improvement, equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives

Partnership & Reporting

  • Develop effective partnership working with health and social care professionals
  • Produce reports and service performance statistics for senior leadership and the Board
  • Ensure accurate electronic records and reporting systems are maintained

Operational Support

  • Support resource allocation and staffing across services
  • Participate in on-call duties
  • Deputise for the Director of Operations when required

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a proven leader with:

  • Significant experience managing supported living or long-term care services
  • Strong knowledge of CQC, safeguarding and housing management elements of the sector
  • Experience leading senior managers and service leaders
  • Excellent planning, organisational and decision-making skills
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, including performance and absence management
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong IT and reporting skills

Experience in mental health, learning disabilities and similar client groups is essential.
