Job Title: Optical Lab Technician
Reporting to: Lab Supervisor
Salary: £26,509.44
Location: Cambuslang, Glasgow
Hours: 08.00 – 16.30. Mon-Fri (40 hours per week)

Job SummaryWe are looking for a skilled and motivated Optical Lab Technician to join our laboratory team. This role plays a key part in delivering high quality optical products by accurately manufacturing and glazing lenses in line with prescriptions, quality standards, and turnaround times.
Key responsibilities
- Interpret and process optical prescriptions accurately
- Edge, glaze, and assemble lenses into frames
- Carry out quality checks to ensure lenses meet prescription and company standards
- Operate and maintain optical lab machinery safely
- Identify and resolve production issues efficiently
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory environment
- Consistently meet turnaround time targets to support timely delivery of glasses
Skills and experience
- Maths and English to National Level 4 or 5 or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy over sustained periods
- Ability to follow instructions and prioritise workload effectively

- High level of attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and quality
- Good manual dexterity and practical skills, with the ability to handle delicate materials and equipment
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain accuracy under pressure and to tight turnaround times
- Reliable, with a positive and team focused approach to work
- Strong awareness of health and safety, with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
Desirable
- Previous experience working within an optical laboratory or similar production environment
- Experience using optical lab equipment, including edging and glazing machinery
- Familiarity with interpreting optical prescriptions
