FULL DESCRIPTION
The Role
Join us as a Porter to provide support to the whole school community. You will work as part of the Portering and Post Room team in the upkeep of both internal and external areas of the School including room set ups, office moves, processing of all aspects of mail and deliveries.
*Please note this role is shift work and requires some weekend working.*
Main Responsibilities
- Ability to work shifts which will include some weekend working
- Furniture movements around the School, including desks, chairs, filing cabinets and crates in a safe manner;
- Preparing all Lecture Theatres and Seminar Rooms for teaching, courses or meetings in a timely manner;
- Assisting in the preparation for Events, Conferences & Functions including table & chair arrangements;
- Distribution of any external signed-for mail & parcels;
- Assisting in the upkeep of all outside areas e.g. cloisters, car parks, approach roads & inner quadrangle to ensure that all areas are tidy at all times;
- Undertaking duties behind the Porters desk.
- Communicating with relevant departments around the School to ensure decisions are best informed
- Dealing with staff/student enquiries/requests on Post Room and Portering matters
Who we are looking for
- Experience working in a customer service environment
- Great communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work well under pressure, and use your own initiative
- Highly customer focused and reliable, committed to delivering a quality service
- Ability to deal confidently with conflict and to negotiate at a senior level with internal and external contacts
- Great problem-solving and team-working skills
- Some experience on the latest Mail Sort technology and equipment is preferred
- Basic knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations, including Manual Handling regulations preferred
