Teacher Apprentice - Maths
The School of Academic and Social Sciences is recruiting for a teacher apprentice in Mathematics. Our Teaching Apprenticeship offers a work-based route to become a teacher where you will both be paid a salary and have all fees covered by the department. You will deliver GCSE maths lessons to small and whole groups and play a key role in the team when planning and designing innovative experiences.
About the Role
The School of Academic and Social Sciences is recruiting for a teacher apprentice in Mathematics. Our Teaching Apprenticeship offers a work-based route to become a teacher where you will both be paid a salary and have all fees covered by the department
With a more practical focus, the Teaching Apprenticeship involves you working full time in the maths team, and spending one day per week at University, where you will cover the essential theory and pedagogy needed to become a successful teacher.
You will deliver GCSE maths lessons to small and whole groups and play a key role in the team when planning and designing innovative experiences
You will be supported by a mentor in the department.
What You Will Do
- You will work within the maths team to plan learning to meet programme requirements and deliver learning outcomes in a realistic context.
- You will develop and employ assessment activities for identified modules and design and deliver learning sessions and activities that develop the mathematics skills necessary for achievement..
- You will learn how to track and monitor learner achievement through being actively engaged and in setting challenging learning goals.
- A key component of the role is to encourage learners to develop autonomy and resilience, personal and interpersonal effectiveness, social awareness and respect for others and essential employability skills.
About You
- The ideal candidate will want to teach! They will be enthusiastic about their discipline and passionate to improve the lives of others. They will want to use digital and mobile technologies in ways that are safe and support effective learning.
- The ideal candidate will be qualified to Level 3 in Maths and be committed to studying towards a higher level teaching apprenticeship (L5 Diploma in Education and Training) over a period of 24 months while in post
- Whilst having exceptional communication skills, they will have the ability to be adaptable and flexible towards the requirements of different learner needs, and have excellent organisational skills, to ensure deadlines are met
