Fitter/Mechanic

Working across five depots in Essex and North London this position will be integral to ensuring that our fleet of vehicles and plant are kept in good working order to support our projects across Essex and London. A company van will be provided to travel between sites.
Overall Role Purpose:

Working across five depots in Essex and North London this position will be integral to ensuring that our fleet of vehicles and plant are kept in good working order to support our projects across Essex and London. A company van will be provided to travel between sites.
[Employer hidden] is an established, independent and dynamic civil engineering company with 30 years of industry experience and expertise in public realm, regeneration and infrastructure projects.
We work with Councils, Local Authorities and Contractors in London, Essex, Cambridgeshire and the South East, delivering pioneering multi-million-pound trials and rollouts for large programmes and phased schemes through to smaller one-off projects.
Key Accountabilities:
- Working across the five depots (Chelmsford, Southend, Hackney, Brentwood and Haringey)
- Be responsible for undertaking the scheduled and ad-hoc repair, servicing and maintenance of all heavy and light commercial vehicles and plant
- Workshop based predominantly but time spent on-site carry out routine maintenance & breakdowns
- Working within a small team, ensure repairs are dealt with promptly and recorded accurately within the in-house electronic system
- Routine vehicle maintenance to VOSA standards
- Preparation and presentation of vehicles and trailers for MOT inspection
- Diagnosing of vehicles diagnostic equipment
- Attending breakdowns, Rectifying Defect
- Good housekeeping and H&S requirements
- Ensure all paperwork is completed
Person specification:
- Hold qualification in either plant maintenance / heavy vehicle maintenance
- Experience in a heavy vehicle/ plant repair and maintenance environment
- Strong technical background and the ability to diagnose and repair faults effectively
- Hydraulics experience
- Electrics experience
- The successful applicant will have previous working experience as an Agricultural, Plant, Forklift or HGV Mechanic
- Full UK driving license essential
- HGV licence preferred but not essential
