FULL DESCRIPTION

Mechanical Project Engineer

South Oxfordshire (M4 / M40 corridor, commutable from Oxford, Reading, Swindon, Newbury etc.) Salary £32k-£40k.

Responsibilities of Mechanical Project Engineer:

Take technical ownership of all aspects of allocated projects. The post requires multi-discipline skills in mechanical, thermal and electrical design –although training in electrical design aspects will be given if required. Responsible for delivering in all technical aspect of the project including documentation and reports. Ensure all technical activities are conducted in a comprehensive manner to meet the agreed specification. Working closely with all team members to ensure that project is designed, manufactured and tested in an efficient manner whilst still maintaining flight requirements. Provide a forward-looking outlook to avoid technical problems later (especially in orbit!!) Communication with customers in all technical aspects of the project. Working with Project Managers to define technical work packages for team members. Always focussed on the balance of technical and programmatic delivery.

Requirements:

An Engineering Masters (MEng, MA, MPhys, MSc) or higher (Doctorate PhD, DPhil, EngD) in a technical discipline such as aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or maybe physics / astro-physics etc. Minimum 3 years’ experience in space industry (or similar) Expertise in spacecraft level structural/thermal design including use of NASTRAN / PATRAN FEA package Systems level engineering experience is desirable. Previous experience of working with teams, planning and reporting Knowledge and understanding of ECSS standards. Strong communication skills at all levels with ability to provide solutions. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure to demanding timescales. Strong IT skills including MS Office Enthusiastic, hardworking and professional approach essential
