FULL DESCRIPTION
Mechanical Design Engineer (Automation & Robotics) Location: Bedford UK. Salary: £40,000 – £45,000k. Benefits: Comprehensive package.

Responsibilities:
- Supporting early‑stage proposals with concept models and ideas
- Developing new mechanisms, assemblies, and machine concepts using SolidWorks
- Building and testing prototypes
- Producing detailed part and assembly models, as well as high‑quality manufacturing drawings
- Working closely with electrical and controls colleagues to shape system behaviour and sensor strategy
- Liaising with suppliers, gathering costs, and helping with technical administration
- Creating BOMs, documentation, and 3D visuals for technical and marketing use
- Getting hands‑on during assembly, commissioning, and customer delivery of turnkey solutions
Requirements:
- Strong SolidWorks skills (essential)
- Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, machining, and fabrication
- Someone who enjoys being hands‑on as well as design‑focused
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to get stuck in across the project lifecycle
- Attention to detail and strong technical documentation skills
- Experience with motors, pneumatics, or special‑purpose machinery is a bonus
