Mechanical R&D Engineer - Healthcare - Cambridgeshire. Salary: £40k-£50k + benefits.
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join a dynamic Engineering company developing an array of products for the medical / healthcare industry. The company is growing strongly giving many opportunities for personal career development in addition to a wide variety of new projects to work on.
Mechanical Engineer /R&D Engineer Job responsibilities will include:
- Working on product improvement, resolving and documenting product faults, manufacturing problems and inefficiencies.
- Developing, maintaining and updating medical device build specifications and documentation such as CAD drawings, user manuals, labelling.
- Perform hands-on testing specifying and implementing solutions.
- Work on prototyping, creating jigs, machining, laser cutting, fabrication within the R&D environment.
- Management of Engineering Change, value improvement and re-engineering of existing products to include newer, safer and more economic materials and manufacturing processes.
- Help improvement in quality of products and their customer experience.
- Assist the sales and purchasing department to resolve technical issues.
Requirements:
- BTEC, HNC or HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or maybe Industrial Design, Quality Assurance.
- Experience within medical device regulatory and compliance requirements (BS EN ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820, BS EN ISO 14971 etc.)
- Ability to create, modify, updating parts and assemblies using 3D CAD is essential (Solidworks, SolidEdge, Autodesk Inventor, Catia etc.)
- Strong hands-on tools and bench experience including metal working or welding.
- Sound understanding of technical manufacturing with an ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, instructions and other product definition documents.
- Basic understanding of medical regulatory standards.
- Good communication skills both spoken and written for report writing.
- Strong problem-solving skills, time management and ability to multi-task.
