FULL DESCRIPTION

RF Design Engineer / Electromagnetics Engineer - South Cambridgeshire. Salary: £60k-£80k.

This newly created role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced RF Design Engineer / Electromagnetics Engineer with a proven ability to tackle advanced RF electronics design challenges. We are looking for somebody who is excited by the challenge of a role with responsibility for developing ground-breaking new RF technology for this well-established company’s truly unique real-time sensing systems within the healthcare and medical devices arena.

As the RF Engineer / Electromagnetic Engineering Consultant you will be responsible for sophisticated blank sheet RF designs at system and component/device level with strong focus on electromagnetic design and simulation.

RF Design Engineer / Electromagnetics Engineer Requirements:

  • A good degree (BEng/MEng) in Electronic Engineering or RF/Electromagnetics related technical subject.
  • Recent and relevant post-graduate experience architecting, designing, optimising, debugging and testing RF electronics at system and device level.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of electromagnetics, microwave and RF engineering along with experience or good knowledge of digital communications.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.

The following experience would be highly advantageous:

  • Antenna & feed design, prototyping and testing covering sub GHz to mmWave frequencies
  • Proficiency with RF & EM simulation tools such as CST Studio Suite, MATLAB, AWR
  • Experience of developing ground station and space-based RF payloads
  • Use of PCB CAD design tools for schematic entry and layout such as Altium Designer with an appreciation of mechanical tools such as Solidworks
  • ASIC, MMIC or RFIC specification and design, or appreciation of current practice
  • Common communications standards and systems, such as cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
