About this Role:
As the HSEQ Engineer, you will support the implementation of the HSE & Quality Strategy for the business by promoting and developing a position Health & Safety and Quality Environment within the organisation. More specifically:
- Leading as the EHS Management Representative, developing and maintaining the CIL Business Management System through ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Acting as the prime contact for suppliers on product quality related matters; such as initial supplier and product release, product returns, complaints, requests for (additional) product data, concerns, audit requests and general questions, with a scope of BOM materials, subassemblies and components delivered by suppliers.
- Assisting in the development of a Continuous Improvement culture throughout the Business.
Key accountabilities include but are not limited to;
Health, Safety & Environmental
- To develop and maintain a business management system that addresses the requirements of AS9100, ISO9001, ISO 13485 and ISO 14001 for the business.
- To communicate of the requirements of the respective standards to Management and all employees ensuring that a sound understanding of these requirements is maintained, at all levels.
- To support in the introduction of other schemes or programs which arise through Customer or market needs of the business such as ISO45001.
- To manage compliance requests that arise from Customer compliance queries, including conflict mineral statements.
- To manage internal HSE audits ensuring that they are planned, conducted, reported and that all resulting non-conformances are closed in a timely and effective manner.
- To assist Management in identifying and containing business risks, and ensuring that appropriate system actions are deployed to prevent further recurrence or other risks occurring to the business.
- To support the development and management of the HSE Committee to provide a fully engaged environmental and H&S management system and to ensure that where appropriate preventative action measures have been put in place and are effective in order to meet Customer Expectations.
- To Identify and report OHAS & Environmental Measures and KPI’s across the business ensuring that duplication and conflicting data is minimised, identifying specifically costs relating to energy and waste.
- To develop, maintain and actively promote the concept of Behavioural Safety within the Workplace and to perform the necessary training and reviews to fully engage the staff in their empowerment in an H&S culture.
- To carry out training to support team development in all aspects of quality, health, safety and environment.
Supplier Quality
- Converting NCRs in to a SCAR when appropriate and managing the follow-up with the supplier.
- Initiating a quality strategy for new materials and performing first article inspections.
- Performing supplier audits, both initial, regular and spot audits pertaining to quality issues.
- Managing change requests to and from suppliers including end-of-life situations.
- Contributing to engineering and R&D in development projects / changes by matching supplier performance versus product, process, and volume requirements.
- Monitoring supplier performance and quality of incoming materials and components.
- Reviewing product specifications sent to suppliers on completeness and consistency.
- Performing First Article inspection(s) after changes and when all requirements are met, releasing the goods to manufacturing.
- Authorising the release of non-conforming supplier materials/components, based on investigations / risk assessment and rational following the NCR procedure within the QMS system.
- Producing monthly reports showing defects per month, pareto of the top issues and timing plan for addressing these.
- Producing a weekly / monthly status report for management to understand current status of activities.
- Undertaking supplier development activities where required.
- Creating and updating inspection templates for goods receipt inspection.

Essential
- Formal education – Degree Level preferred (Minimum Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Electronics/ Electrical Engineering ideally).
- Formal Auditor training in one or more of the following: AS 9100, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
- Demonstrable experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment ideally within the electronics Manufacturing Sector.
- Formal education - NEBOSH International Certificate for Health & Safety Management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, data handling and analysis.
- Expertise in communication and negotiation.
- Driving License
Desirable
- Formal education - NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate or equivalent.
- Formal education – NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate or equivalent.
- Ideally holds industry knowledge in electronics engineering or equivalent.
- Ideally prepared to hold a CQI or other recognised qualification in Quality Management.
