Income Assistant

The salary range for this position is: £28,977 - £32,205

We have three new exciting opportunities to join our award winning Income Operations team, within our Customer and Exchequer Services division.

The Role:

We have three new exciting opportunities to join our award winning Income Operations team, within our Customer and Exchequer Services division.

Income Operations are responsible for maximising revenue income, and reducing arrears to enable the council to maintain and transform services. This is across a number of revenues streams including:

  • Council Tax
  • Former Tenant Arrears
  • Current Tenant Arrears
  • Housing Benefit Overpayments
  • Sundry Debts
  • Business Rates
  • Business Improvement Districts

We are looking for enthusiastic, well-organised and committed individuals to join our friendly and supportive teams. The successful individuals will help provide administrative support and assistance to our officers in the StepByStep or Rent Income team with a potential for tasks to be covered across all Income Operations.

You will undertake tasks such as taking notes at meetings, maintaining operational records including, maintenance of computer databases and spreadsheets, co-ordinating information and producing reports and compiling evidence for court hearings, as well as basic administration.

You will also liaise in writing and on the telephone with members of the public, businesses, external agencies, Council officers and Elected Members

The challenging nature of this role will enable you to continually learn and develop your skills and the ways of working within the Council.

About you

The successful applicants will have experience of working in a target/deadline based office environment and have the ability to work independently and within teams.

You will have a varied and diverse workload, which you will need to manage and prioritise to meet all the various targets of the teams.

You will be customer focussed and have excellent communication skills, be organised and committed to working collaboratively and innovatively to maximise income collection and generation for the Income team and Southwark as a whole.
