About the Role:
As the Fire Safety Manager, you will play an integral role in ensuring the safety and security of our residents through expert technical advice and effective management of fire safety practices. You will ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Health & Safety legislation, and all associated regulations. You will lead the charge on strategic policy development, manage fire safety inspections, and oversee a dedicated team of Fire Safety Surveyors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on all fire safety matters within our housing stock, developing strategic policies and procedures while producing detailed technical specifications and reports for senior management.
- Assist in the procurement and management of specialist consultancies to enhance our fire safety measures as needed.
- Compile comprehensive technical reports and documentation for court presentations, representing the Council in legal matters related to fire safety.
- Manage and mentor Fire Safety Surveyors to optimize efficiencies, preparing project plans for Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) and fire safety inspections.
- Ensure full compliance with council and statutory repair legislation and oversee contract management responsibilities.
What We’re Looking For:
To thrive in this role, you should possess:
- A Level 4 Fire Safety Qualification and Current FSA Tier 3 certification.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, PAS 79, the Building Safety Act, and Fire Safety Act.
- Extensive experience in fire safety risk assessments and action plan development.
- Proven leadership skills, with substantial experience in managing a team and liaising with the Fire Brigade.
- Excellent communication abilities, with the capability to present complex information clearly to a range of audiences.
- A proactive and self-motivated attitude, with a track record of instigating change in complex environments.
