Dock Master

The Dock Master role involves day-to-day marina operations, including boat handling, planning, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a background in boating or marinas and possess relevant skills and knowledge.

About Us

South Dock Marina is London’s largest marina and is owned and operated by the [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk]. The marina has 200 berths with many of them occupied for residential purposes. We are also the only small craft boatyard in London, lifting and moving vessels up to 20 tonnes.

We are seeking to appoint a dock master to work within the existing operations team.

The role

Working hours 36 plus 4 contractual overtime

This is a customer facing role reporting to the Harbour Master. You will be responsible for the day to day operations of the marina including boat moving, boat lifting, planning and booking vessels, control of vessel movements and assisting in the marina maintenance. There is a variety of floating jetties, hydraulic lock gates, lifting bridge, cranes, plant, electrical systems, work boats, and boat moving equipment that support the marina operations that you will be required operate and maintain. The ideal candidate should have a background in boating or marinas and have the following skills and knowledge: • Must hold a recognised boating qualification, hold a full UK driving licence and be computer literate. • Must be able to swim 25 metres fully clothed. • Experience of delivering services to specified standards and deadlines. • Knowledge of Health and Safety Standards and experience of maintaining safe working practice. • Experience of providing an efficient front-line customer services • Excellent communication skills and experience of working with the public.

Additional salary details

Salary plus shift allowance, contractual overtime and weekend enhancement

Salary range (£24,486 to £27,744 Circa £32,500 per annum).
