Organisation Development Consultant

The role involves designing and implementing OD activities, collaborating with the Executive Committee, consulting with stakeholders, and supporting the organization's strategic goals. Organisation Development Consultant

Organisation Development (OD) is a crucial part of the DNA of [Employer hidden]. The OD Team provides a systemic, strategic consulting arm to the People & Organisation function and are an established cross-jurisdictional team, with consultants in South Africa; UK and India.

The OD Team holds a systemic organisational stance, whilst simultaneously consulting to specific pieces of work, partnering with other consultants in People & Organisation & the Global Strategy team, to form multi-disciplinary teams around business areas and large-scale strategic projects.

With a behavioural science (psychology/sociology & anthropology) approach to organisations, we work with business strategy, organisational culture & human dynamics to progress commercial outputs. Edgar Schein's Process Consulting is a central to our work.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop a range of organisational development activities and interventions, aimed at improving the overall effectiveness of the organisational system.
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Committee (Exco) to design and implement an OD plan for the organisation.
  • Consult with key stakeholders across the organisation, managing the portfolio of work.
  • Prioritise the promotion of [Employer hidden]'s culture and the transformational agenda of the organisation.
  • Partner with the Chief Strategy Officer to ensure the OD function supports the organisation's group strategy.
  • Support the development of a learning culture, helping the organisation become more adaptive, reflective, and human-centered.
  • Work alongside other P&O consultants and Strategy teams to integrate OD into broader transformation efforts.

Experience, skills and capability:

  • Strong grounding in Edgar Schein's Process Consulting approach:
  • Humble inquiry
  • Relationship-first consulting
  • Joint diagnosis and emergent intervention
  • Systems thinking—ability to see patterns across levels (individual, team, culture, system).
  • Group process facilitation—sensitivity to dynamics, energy, resistance, and flow.
  • High emotional intelligence—ability to track both spoken and unspoken signals.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, emergence, and not knowing—staying present without rushing to fix.
  • Ability to build trust quickly and hold complexity without judgment.

What are we looking for?

  • Undergraduate qualification in Organisational, Social, or Clinical Psychology with knowledge of organisational behaviour, group dynamics, and unconscious processes.
  • Master's degree (preferred) in psychology or behavioural sciences related to organisations (e.g., Organisation Development/Design, Counselling Psychology, Coaching Psychology).
  • Strong grasp of Systems Theory for organisational effectiveness.
  • Skilled in interpretive, thematic analysis (not reliant on quantitative toolkits).
  • Demonstrable OD consultancy experience in complex commercial environments.
  • Knowledgeable in Social and Organisational Psychology, and Organisation Development.
  • Process Consultation expertise.
  • Proficient at diagnosing organisational issues and performance barriers.
  • Experience designing and facilitating OD interventions.
  • Group Facilitation expert.
  • Familiarity with [Employer hidden]'s strategy, structure, values, and culture.
  • Strong consulting, communication, interpersonal, and budgeting skills.
