Job Title: Lecturer in Childcare (Maternity cover)

Salary: £29,565 - £43,562 per annum (subject to a progression criteria)

The Role
[Employer hidden] is seeking an inspiring and dedicated Lecturer in Childcare to join our teaching team on a fixed term Maternity cover basis. You will plan and deliver engaging programmes of study that meet the needs and abilities of learners, creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. The role involves using a range of effective teaching methods, delivering assessments in line with College standards, and applying diagnostic tools to support learner progress. You will participate in internal quality processes, maintain accurate records, and follow all College policies to ensure a safe and positive learning experience. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues and be available to support students when reasonably required.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan a programme of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of all students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, the physical limitations of the space provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Plan and deliver a suitable Assessment Programme ensuring marked work meets [Employer hidden] Standards.
- Implement [Employer hidden]’s Core Values through the Taking Teaching Higher strategy.
- Utilise diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and/or acceleration toward academic achievement.
- Participate in Interval Verification requirements including the preparation for Awarding Body visits.
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to assure safety in the classroom and the College for all students.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare and Early Years (essential).
- Qualified Teacher status or a willingness to work towards it**
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths or equivalent.
- Up-to-date knowledge and/or experience in teaching Childcare and Early Years.
- Awareness of current challenges within Childcare and Early Years.
- Expertise and/or experience in one or more areas of Childcare and Early Years.
- Demonstrable ability to effectively disseminate good practice.
- Capability to address inappropriate classroom behaviour promptly and efficiently.
- Strong time management skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in preparing written and visual teaching materials, including the effective use of Information Learning Technology such as Virtual Learning Environments and PowerPoint, supported by relevant software.

Targeted Retention Scheme
