Job Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and industry experienced Lecturer in Music Production to join our Creative Arts team at [Employer hidden]. This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional and practising musician who is passionate about developing the next generation of music producers, engineers, musicians and creative practitioners. You will deliver high quality, industry aligned teaching across music performance and music technology programmes, using professional studios, performance rooms and digital audio workstations to support learners progressing into employment or higher education within the creative industries. If you bring creativity, technical expertise, and a learner centred approach, this is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, practical teaching in Music Performance and Music Technology using industry standard software and facilities.
  • Plan and deliver inclusive programmes of study that meet individual learner needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Design and implement assessments in line with awarding body and College standards.
  • Use diagnostic assessment to identify learning gaps and support learner progress through timely intervention.
  • Maintain a professional, safe, and inspiring studio and classroom environment.
  • Keep accurate records in line with awarding body, funding, and College requirements.
  • Participate in internal quality assurance processes, including lesson observations, reviews, and self-assessment.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, innovation, and employer informed provision.
  • Take part in marketing, recruitment, and learner engagement activity, including open events and school liaison.
  • Uphold the College’s Core Values, safeguarding responsibilities, and health & safety procedures.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Degree level qualification in Music Production, Music Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Qualified teacher or willingness to commence a recognised teaching qualification on appointment.
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C / Level 4 or above (or willingness to work towards).
  • To be able to play the guitar, drums or piano to industry standard.
  • Industry experience within music production, recording, engineering, practising musician or related creative fields.
  • Knowledge of current issues, emerging technologies, workflows, creative trends and career pathways within the music and creative industries.
  • Understanding of music theory, composition, arrangement, and performance contexts.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and time management skills.
  • Confidence using digital technologies and DAWs to support teaching and assessment.
  • Ability to create engaging teaching materials and promote student-centred learning.

Desirable:

  • Professional certifications such as Avid Certified Pro Tools Operator.
  • Master's level qualification in a related subject.
  • Teaching experience in Further or Higher Education.
