Job Role
We are seeking a committed and proactive Attendance & Pastoral Support Officer to support our Adult & Community Learning team at [Employer hidden]. This is a vital role focused on supporting learner engagement, improving attendance and punctuality, and removing barriers to learning through targeted pastoral interventions. You will combine strong administrative skills with a student‑centred approach, working closely with teaching staff, support teams, learners, and parents/carers to promote positive outcomes and learner wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and timely administrative support across the department.
- Maintain learner records, including enrolments, transfers, withdrawals, and completions.
- Manage departmental databases, electronic systems, and filing processes.
- Monitor attendance data and implement strategies to improve learner engagement.
- Contact students and parents/carers following absences and maintain accurate records.
- Support evidence gathering for exam access arrangements.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including the use of new technologies.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibility.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
You will have:
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in Business Administration or a relevant subject.
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
- Experience working in an administrative role within a busy environment.
- Experience supporting young people, including those with additional needs.
- Strong organisational, communication, and IT skills (Microsoft Office essential).
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and student welfare.
- The ability to manage priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Experience in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with systems such as ProSolution or ProMonitor.
- First Aid and Risk Assessment qualifications.
