Job Title: Business Administration Apprentice Level 3

Department: Principalship

Reporting to:  Executive Assistant/Head Of Admin

Salary: £15,433.44 per annum for first 12 months rising to National Minimum Wage for Age

Annual Leave: 30 days per annum plus bank holidays

Contractual hours: 37 hours per week

Basis: Apprenticeship Contract, Fixed Term, Duration 21 months

Pension: NEST

The Role

We are seeking a motivated Business Administration Apprentice to join our Principalship Team, where you will support a wide range of administrative tasks in a professional and fast‑paced environment. Your responsibilities will include data entry, assisting with the preparation of reports using College Information Systems, and managing both electronic and paper-based correspondence for the Directorate/Department. As part of this unique opportunity, you will also complete three‑month rotational placements across different areas of the College, giving you valuable exposure to various departments and helping you develop a broad understanding of how the organisation operates. This structured programme is designed to help you build strong administrative skills, gain confidence, and explore different areas of the business to identify where your future career interests may lie.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out accurate data input and assist with preparing reports using [Employer hidden] Group Information Systems.
  • Handle incoming telephone calls and other communications, ensuring messages are passed on promptly and professionally.
  • Manage general filing duties, including organising both electronic and paper‑based correspondence for the Directorate/Department.
  • Complete non‑confidential word‑processing tasks as required.
  • Support staff with the preparation of learning materials (where appropriate).
  • Facilitate the use of Multi‑Functional Devices (MFDs) for Directorate/Department staff.
  • Maintain and update Directorate/Department notice boards.
  • Assist with enrolment activities during key periods.
  • Provide support in welcoming and receiving visitors to the Directorate/Department.
  • Demonstrate an active commitment to the Directorate/Department’s strategic objectives.
  • Uphold the College’s Equality and Diversity Policy, Quality Frameworks, and Health & Safety procedures at all times.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • At least 3 GCSEs, including Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • A commitment to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Good personal presentation skills.
  • Evidence of a desire to work in a busy office environment.
