We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Finance Analyst to join our retail business. The Finance Analyst will play a critical role in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong financial modelling skills, experience in the retail sector, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

Reporting to the Finance Director, this role will be based in our London office.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Finance Analyst to join our retail business. The Finance Analyst will play a critical role in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong financial modelling skills, experience in the retail sector, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Responsibilities
As a Finance Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial efficiency and supporting business growth. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Partnering with the Finance Director around budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
- Managing the financial model to maintain alignment with business purpose and rolling performance.
- Oversee the company's BI tools, ensuring data integrity and continually improving the platform to provide real-time visibility into performance against key and evolving KPIs.
- Be an integral part of the month-end team, led by the Finance Manager, assisting in the timely and accurate delivery of financial reporting.
- Support the preparation of reconciliations, provisions and accruals to facilitate a smooth month-end close.
- Review and validate the segmentation and categorisation of transactions in the ERP to deliver accurate cost-centre analysis.
- Partnering with the Finance Manager to streamline BAU and month-end processes, driving efficiency while maintaining and integrity.
- Identification of key cashflow drivers and trends, including a monthly analysis of direct cashflow vs budget and investigating any deviations against expectation.
- Work closely with the tech team to safeguard data integrity within the company’s tech architecture, ensuring seamless data flow and accuracy across all platforms.
- Supporting the Commercial team to understand weekly and monthly trends in performance, particularly around Channel/Customer/Product Mix. Key to this will be ensuring that our BI software contains up-to-date data and with charts that can be readily understood.
- Regularly meet with key budget owners across the business to ensure they have full visibility of their spend against budget.
- Partner with the marketing team to assess the financial impact of promotions and strategic initiatives, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
- Monitor manufacturing efficiencies and provide analysis of impact on profit margins.
- Ensure data compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
Experience:
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in financial analysis, preferably in the e-commerce & retail sector.
- Strong proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and data visualisation tools (e.g., Lightdash or Looker (preferred), Power BI, Tableau).
- SQL skills will be very advantageous.
- Experience working with cloud based data systems such as Snowflake, RudderStack, DBT would also be favourably considered.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and financial reporting software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
