Job description

First Line Manager 12-month FTC Billingham (Home of McCoys, Wheat Crunchies, POM-BEAR, and more…) On-site Shift pattern: 14 shifts across a 24/7 operation

  • Shift times: 7:00am – 7:00pm, 7:00pm – 7:00am
  • Rest period: Nine days off, then the pattern repeats

This role requires flexibility to support the site across days and nights.

About the role

As a First Line Manager (FLM), reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll play a critical role in supporting our Line Structure Teams and embedding the Intersnack Working System (IWS) ways of working across our 24/7 operation.

You’ll provide strong leadership day and night, ensuring standards are maintained, colleagues are supported and performance is delivered against clearly defined outputs. You’ll take ownership out of hours, leading by example to keep our people safe, our products compliant and our site running smoothly.

What will you be doing?

  • Owning Health, Safety and Environment out of hours Taking personal responsibility for colleague safety, environmental standards and product compliance
  • Leading the site across the 24/7 operation Acting as the senior site contact out of hours, managing risk, decision‑making and escalation
  • Embedding IWS ways of working Coaching teams on problem‑solving, Daily Management Systems and standardised ways of working
  • Supporting Line Structure Teams to deliver the plan Leading and managing colleagues out of hours to achieve agreed standards, outputs and performance targets
  • Role‑modelling servant leadership Building ownership, capability and engagement while supporting delivery of our Compelling Business Need

Job requirements

We’d love to hear from you if you can bring:

  • Strong people management experience Including absence management, disciplinary and grievance processes
  • A proven track record in manufacturing performance Delivering against production KPIs and SLAs
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles Experience of IWS and/or Six Sigma is desirable
  • Leadership experience at supervisory or management level Confident leading teams and making decisions in a fast‑paced environment
  • Flexibility and strong communication skills Comfortable working rotating shifts, motivating teams and meeting internal and external requirements
