FULL DESCRIPTION

Delivery Interface Manager

Join [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk]’s Power division — a high-performing team delivering complex HV infrastructure projects across the UK. This role sits at the centre of our most significant projects, strengthening the interface between estimating, design, procurement, and delivery.

THE TEAM

Join [Employer hidden]’s Power division — a high-performing team delivering complex HV infrastructure projects across the UK.

We operate in a fast-paced environment where technical credibility, structured delivery, and commercial awareness are critical to success. This role sits at the centre of our most significant projects, strengthening the interface between estimating, design, procurement, and delivery.

SCOPE OF ROLE

Reporting to the Associate Director- Electrical, this role exists to bring structure, leadership, and technical authority to the critical design-to-delivery transition across high-value HV infrastructure projects (typically £5m+).

You will lead the coordination of the electrical design lifecycle (11kV–132kV minimum), manage DNO/IDNO and client interfaces, accelerate procurement of long-lead equipment, and provide technical leadership to a team of Project Managers.

This is not a pure design role — and not a purely commercial role.

It is a delivery leadership role requiring immediate operational credibility.

HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED

Design & Approval Process Leadership

  • Lead structured handover from Estimating to Delivery following project award
  • Oversee the full HV design lifecycle from grid application to IFC (Issued for Construction)
  • Manage DNO/IDNO approvals and client-side signoffs
  • Identify and mitigate design risk early to protect programme and cost
  • Translate technical issues into commercial and programme impact

Commercial & Procurement Enablement

  • Understand procurement cycles for major OEMs (e.g. switchgear manufacturers)
  • Recognise and manage 9–12-month lead time risks
  • Drive early supplier engagement and order placement
  • Support NEC/JCT commercial strategy at a high level
  • Think in terms of programme risk and cash flow impact — not just drawings

Leadership & Interface Management

  • Line manage, mentor, and develop a team of Design Project Managers.

  • Hyperscale / industrial client engineers
  • Stabilise complex or high-pressure project environments
  • Implement structured handover and delivery processes
  • Manage and govern interfaces with:
  • External design consultancies
  • Clients and developers (including data centres, renewables, and energy storage)
  • Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Transmission Owners (TOs)
  • Internal construction, commissioning, and commercial teams
  • Internal Design Manager and offshore/Indian delivery teams

  • Ensure compliance with NG, ENA, IEC, BS, client, DNO, and TO standards.
  • Support early-stage bid, tender, and FEED activities with technical input and risk assessment.
  • Ensure alignment between design delivery, construction methodology, commercial objectives, and programme constraints.

Programme, Cost & Risk Oversight

  • Provide senior oversight of design programmes, ensuring alignment with overall project and portfolio milestones.
  • Identify systemic design risks, constraints, or capacity issues and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Support commercial teams with design-related change management, claims, and variations.
  • Ensure design outputs are safe, constructable, compliant, and delivered efficiently to support successful project execution.
