We’re looking for a Mechanical Field Service Engineer to support three operational gas peaking plants across the West of England. This is a permanent, field-based role reporting to the Mechanical Technical Lead. You’d be joining an organisation who are an independent power producer, with an energy portfolio of over 25GW across 10+ countries, including Solar, Wind, Energy Storage and Biomass technologies.
As a Mechanical Field Service Engineer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and optimising critical mechanical systems across multiple sites. You’ll act as the on-the-ground technical specialist, ensuring plant reliability, supporting maintenance strategies and responding to operational issues. This role suits a hands-on engineer with strong diagnostic capability and experience in energy generation environments.
Mechanical Field Service Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned and reactive mechanical maintenance
- Diagnose faults and restore plant availability quickly
- Support outage and breakdown activities
- Act as mechanical SME across all three sites
- Support site teams with troubleshooting and issue resolution
- Escalate complex issues where required
- Identify reliability and performance issues
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Work in line with site safety procedures and standards
- Maintain accurate maintenance records
Mechanical Field Service Engineer Requirements
- Experience in mechanical maintenance within power generation or heavy industry
- Strong fault-finding skills on rotating equipment and engines
- Gas peaking plant experience preferred
- Able to work independently across multiple sites
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
