About the role
This role involves undertaking fee-earning work, contributing to the department’s profitability, and meeting key performance targets. The successful candidate will handle all aspects of property litigation matters for both commercial and private clients while building and developing their own caseload. Responsibilities include business development through networking and seminars, maintaining high standards of client care, collaborating with other departments, and developing specialist expertise, all in line with the firm’s Business Plan.

Key tasks, duties and quality standards:
- To assist the department as a whole in meeting its fee earning targets by providing help regarding advice and assistance to clients of the department as well as other departments of the firm.
- Conduct of matters on behalf of clients.
- Manage support services for which he is responsible, including supervision of own secretary if appropriate.
- Participate in marketing and networking activities whether on a firm-wide, departmental or office basis.
- Financial control with particular regard to cash-flow control through collection of monies on account and billing procedures.
- To participate fully in the activities of the Dispute Resolution team.
- To utilise the skills of any department Trainee and to assist with the Trainee’s training.
- To assist during the absence of other fee earners.
- Carry out work outside of normal hours where the work requires this.
- Travel to client meetings both in and outside the UK when required.
- Promote good file management.
- Assist with formulating and advancing internal procedures.
- Undertake other duties as from time to time required and agreed.
- To ensure compliance with regulatory procedures.
- To maintain professional knowledge base including attainment of annual CPD point

This role will be based at our Guildford and/or Leatherhead office, with travel to other office locations as required.
To be successful in this role, we are seeking the following:
Qualifications
A good honours degree followed by LPC, training contract and PSC /or a good honours degree followed by SQE and qualifying work experience/ or a good honours degree with CILEX to Fellow level, LPC and PSC, and admitted by SRA as a solicitor.

- Technical competence in chosen area of law and practice.
- Achieves targets in respect of chargeable hours, fees, recovery rate, lock-up and non-chargeable time for a Senior Associate solicitor.
- Has developed a client/referrer base.
- Understands and undertakes proper referral of work to relevant departments and development of work for other departments.
- Shows willingness to be involved in activities of the firm outside of work within the department to which the individual is assigned.
- Where appropriate, supervises junior members of staff and be involved in practice development.
- Well-developed interpersonal, social and communication skills including an appreciation of the vulnerability of some of our clients, both generally and also specifically at distressing times.
