Role purpose
To deliver [Employer hidden] Schools based Chaplaincy based in schools and working with, but not limited to, students, senior staff, local churches, local diocese, and community projects. Chaplains will be able to provide support based on the 7 dimensions of Chaplaincy:
- Pastoral – Being present and available to spend time as a trusted adult with a child or children, helping them to engage with particular issues or situations.
- Worshipful – Creating, shaping and leading formal and informal worship within School.
- Spiritual – Representing the spiritual dimension of human experience and life in community.
- Missional – Conveying the ‘Good News’ of God to those with whom they have contact.
- Servant hearted – We want our chaplains to serve the needs of school and model this to learners.
- Prophetic – Presenting truth whenever it is needed within a school to be present, consistent, confident and open about its Christian identity.
- Pedagogy – Demonstrating the living out of the Christian faith by example and through the activities, as well as through sessions
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Develop relationships with schools and other sections of the community, to help in the set-up and running of [Employer hidden] in new areas.
- Establish and run mentoring sessions in school and community projects (if applicable).
- Keeping all reporting and impact measurements up to date.
- To be a role model to young people in terms of spiritual leadership and pastoral care.
- Support and grow the spiritual atmosphere of the school in line with the school’s mission.
- Support the Head teacher and other staff in the day to day running of the school.
- Every member of the [Employer hidden] staff team has a responsibility and role to play in protecting children from harm within their working environment. This involves adhering to policy and legislation, understanding of reporting channels and high standards of professionalism.

General Characteristics
- A committed Christian, in line with [Employer hidden]’s Christian ethos.
- A satisfactory enhanced DBS Disclosure.
- Awareness of personal capability and effectiveness and the need for self-improvement.
- A willingness to travel to different locations when required.
- Punctuality and reliability
- A good knowledge of the Bible and its application
- Pastoral care qualities and compassionate in their approach to others
- The ability to lead events and projects for students and the community
